Roy Celaire
Graduate School Student
Roy is an anthropologist working on Black queer life in the UK. His research seeks to explore the many ways in which Black British gay men navigate space, place and identity in a post-Brexit moment. As an ethnographer, he seeks to spend a prolonged amount of time with the men he engages with in order to plot out a geography of these men’s lives, so as to help us understand the realities of Black queer life in 21st century Europe. Before coming to Yale he completed a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford, a Master’s degree in Gender Studies at the LSE, and an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Sociology at Brunel University London.
