Hispanos Unidos, Inc.

Hispanos Unidos, Inc. was the first Latino organization in the State of Connecticut to become involved with the problems generated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It was founded in 1987 as an organization of education and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Its mission is to promote the health and well-being of the Latino community and other disenfranchised populations through education, prevention, care and advocacy.

Hispanos Unidos invites students to participate in a weekly support group that meets
Tuesday mornings, 10-12. The group serves Latinos with the double diagnosis of HIV
and mental health disorder and/or substance abuse. Under the supervision of a clinician,
students will sit in at the support group sessions, conduct interviews with participants,
and assist in the assessment of the program.

Responsibility: Weekly attendance at the support group, Tuesdays 10am-12; attendance
at additional meetings. Spanish fluency required.
